Giving is about so much more than money. Biblical stewardship is being a faithful care taker of what we have been given. God gives us many things in this life and desires that we use them for his Glory, and the spreading of His kingdom.

God has always seen the first 10% of what we receive as being His, therefore when we do not give it we are robbing Him of what is His. The New Testament Christian is not under the law (Romans 6:14) and is not required to give a tithe. The person used as the example of faith for the New Testament Christian is Abraham. He gave a tithe before the law was ever started. The difference was that Abraham gave it by choice. We practice this corporately as a church. Ten percent of all that comes in to Louisburg Baptist Temple goes out to missions. Some feel the New Testament doesn’t teach tithing but rather simply giving generously and with a cheerful heart, which is true. However Jesus does tell us in Matthew 5:17 that He has not come to destroy the Law or the Prophets; rather He has come to fulfill them. Giving in whatever fashion be it time, talents, or money should always be done with a cheerful and worshipful heart, because that is what it is worship to God.
